In celebration of unity and shared heritage, the Provincial Heritage and Tourism Office hosted a heartwarming meet and greet and cultural exchange luncheon on April 4 at the Batanes Resort, honoring the visit of 18 Ivatans from Malinao, Kalilangan, Bukidnon who returned to their ancestral homeland to reconnect with their roots.

The event began with a presentation by the Provincial Tourism Officer, offering insights into Ivatan orthography and the rich history of the Ivatan people. In turn, the guests shared stories of how Ivatan families found new roots in Mindanao in the 1950s, highlighting the unique lifestyle of Ivatans in Bukidnon and how traditions have been preserved through the years.

To celebrate the moment, the PGB Consort serenaded the group with traditional Ivatan songs, culminating in a joyful Fundango Ivatan dance shared by all. Laughter, introductions, and heartfelt conversations filled the air as relatives from both Batanes and Bukidnon reconnected and traced family ties.

Over lunch, stories flowed and knowledge was exchanged—rekindling kinship and strengthening the bonds of a shared Ivatan identity across generations and geography.
